I think of professional networking as a positive idea. I think it is all about how you present yourself. It could have to do with technology use or face to face, but honestly it could be anywhere. You sometimes could never think of you networking yourself by just a simple hand shake. I remember when I was 15 years old playing a softball game at my high school and I got to meet superintendent Dr. Marilou Ryder's. She at the time was the district superintendent and she remembered me. She said that she remembered I looked her in the eyes and gave her a firm handshake at the age of 15 and she saw through my eyes that I was going to be successful. She stated to me that when I was done with graduation and if I ever needed a letter of recommendation that I needed to keep in touch with her and I did. Never did I think she would remember me, but she hired me five years after I graduated high school to intern as an athletic director at a local middle school. I know in this class we learn that networking in a technology type way, but it is not always about technology sometimes.
