In order to be successful you have to market yourself. You have to meet anyone and everyone you possibly can and then you can't stop there. There is always more you can do. Work hard at your workplace and then go home and make sure you are marketing yourself in the right manner on your PWP. Sites like LinkedIn are great because it gives you the opportunity to market yourself by just having someone connected with you to endorse you just through their website. It is literally one click away and you never really know what opportunities could potentially pop up.
The cons I would say is that when you put something on the internet it stays there forever. If you get one negative feedback, it doesn't just go away. You have to make sure that anything you post or you are tagged in is appropriate enough to be seen to the world, or just don't put yourself in that situation to where it could effect your career in the long run. I have friends who post things that I may not agree with, but in their mind it is perfectly fine. Little do they know it could have a major impact on them if their job or their future employment were to ever see what they post.
