According to the article of Use of Wikis in Graduate Course Work, wikis is an Hawaiian word and it means “quick.” The article stated that wiki technology was utilized for collaborative webpages. To be more specific, “A wiki is a set of related webpages that can be authored collectivelt, typically without special log on or password entry.” My personally, I never use it because anyone can edit anything and it could be totally wrong and people will all think it is right because it is on the site. I know we would like to think there are not people that would post wrong stuff on purpose, but it happens and that makes wikis not 100% accurate.
In education, I think that using wiki would never be a valid source. If I were a professor, I would not want my students using it either and you may have found the correct answers on there before, but I have had a few bad experiences by using it. I was being lazy and just went with what wikipedia said and I was totally wrong and wrote a whole paragraph about something completely false.
